EXPERIMENTAL PIANO – a serenade for paper, scissors, and rock; an educational concert for children

As part of World Piano Day, we invite you to a unique encounter with music, sound, and imagination! "Experimental Piano – or a Serenade for Paper, Scissors, and Rock" is an educational concert during which young listeners will discover the extraordinary possibilities of the piano – from classical sounds to the most surprising sonic experiments.

During the meeting, participants will embark on a musical journey that begins with the children's compositions of Fryderyk Chopin and then leads into the world of musical abstraction. A juxtaposition of works by Bach and Comwell will showcase the richness of the piano's tone in both traditional and alternative performance techniques. Arvo Pärt's compositions will become a starting point for a discussion about the phenomena of tintinnabula and aleatoric music, while Mozart's musical playing – also of an aleatoric nature – will add lightness and humor to the whole experience. There will also be some real musical surprises. In "The Banshee," performed directly on the piano strings, participants will discover the extraordinary atmosphere that can be created by an unusual musical score. This is a prelude to the interplanetary sounds to which Crumb and Camilleri will transport listeners. The concert will conclude with an excerpt from Zygmunt Krauze's Stone Music and a joint performance of John Cage's legendary piece 4'33".
The program will also include a slideshow, and children will have the opportunity to create and perform their own graphic scores. There will also be a demonstration of the extraordinary sonic possibilities of a prepared piano – using paper, stones, and many other surprising objects.

This event will stimulate the imagination, open your ears to new sounds, and show you that music can be found literally anywhere!
