THE BIRTHPLACE OF FRYDERYK CHOPIN AND PARK IN ŻELAZOWA WOLA
Żelazowa Wola 15, 96-503 Sochaczew
May 2 and 3, 5:00 p.m., "Chopin Recital in Duszniki. Chopin's works in color." Chopin's Mazurkas." 36 min.
The film presents excerpts from recitals that took place as part of the 1st Chopin Festival in Duszniki. It was organized in the summer of 1946 to commemorate the stay of the young Chopin, who had once given concerts at the same Spa Theatre and donated the proceeds to the children orphaned by a patient who had died suddenly. The director brought three of Chopin's works to the screen, giving each one a different stylistic setting: the atmospheric nocturne is illustrated with images of nature, the mazurka with a folk dance, and the concept of the Revolutionary Etude combines elements of an abstract play of shapes and light with shots of explosions, faces contorted in screams, airplanes, and flames consuming symbolic icons of Polishness. Mazurkas are the essence of Chopin's music. They are also a symbol of Polishness, and for young pianists from around the world, pieces that unite them into a great Chopin family. The film documents the interpretations of Chopin's mazurkas performed by the participants of the 4th Festival. International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, which took place in Warsaw in 1949.
