A 1991 French-German feature film directed by Andrzej Żuławski depicting 36 hours in the life of Frédéric Chopin. One summer day in 1846, George Sand throws a party at her country estate in Nohant. Among the invited guests are the painter Eugène Delacroix, the opera singer Pauline Viardot, and the Russian writer Ivan Turgenev. Sand's long relationship with the Polish pianist Frédéric Chopin is coming to an end. Young Solange, in love with Chopin, tries to take advantage of the situation. The film is Żuławski's individual perspective on Chopin's life and his relationships with his loved ones, who are portrayed as selfish, petty, and shallow opportunists, while Chopin is portrayed as a tragic, misunderstood genius.
